Stella J Designs was founded by Franklin to bring distinctive floral designs, rare stems, and thoughtful botanical elements to the Des Moines area. What began as a deep-rooted passion for creativity and nature has grown into a full-service floral studio that specializes in both retail and event design—where every arrangement is designed to tell a story through color, texture, and emotion.

Franklin discovered his love for floristry back in high school and turned that early spark into a career defined by craftsmanship and continual learning. Along the way, he has expanded his botanical expertise through education and hands-on experience, earning certifications such as Iowa Master Gardener. Since settling in Des Moines in 2015, he’s become part of the local creative community—bringing bold design, attention to detail, and genuine connection to every project.

When he steps away from the studio, you can usually find Franklin in his garden, spending time outdoors, or enjoying life with his animals—chickens, quails, and his two German Shepherds, Freyja and Stella, the beloved namesake of the business.

At Stella J Designs, Franklin’s vision is simple: to craft florals that celebrate life’s meaningful moments with artistry, authenticity, and the kind of beauty that feels personal.
